Crisis Response Services

Crisis response and critical incident debriefing is a service that is designed to assist after stressful and traumatic events. Nurstead Consulting Services has provided crisis response and critical incident debriefing services after devastating events such as the El Paso and Midland Shootings in 2019, officer-involved shootings for many law enforcement agencies, and on-scene response to violent crimes, and natural disasters. Our consultants have also seen these services assist workplaces when an employee or manager has died from a heart attack or car accident. Training for First Responders

Nurstead Consulting Services’ Mental Health for Law Enforcement training is specially designed to address the challenges law enforcement faces when interacting with an individual suffering from mental illness.  These trainings often consist of an 8-hour class and a 40-hour course.  These two items paired together will give an in-depth foundation to improve the relations with individuals in the community who experience mental health challenges and also reduce the number of arrests and detentions for individuals where interactions with law enforcement occur, but there is no criminal intent present. [learn more]

In addition to Law Enforcement, Nurstead Consulting Services also provides training to EMS, Fire, corrections officers, and other field and non-field level first responders in connection with mental health, substance use, crisis intervention, de-escalation, and leadership.
